THE ABYSS

This is one of only eight "double"  hexagrams; in other words, the top and  bottom trigrams are the same. In this case, both trigrams represent water and the abysmal. The central strong line is held in check by two weak lines above and below, signifying a difficult moment. The image contained in this hexagram is of a gorge through which water, symbolizing energy, must flow. Clearly, you are in hazardous circumstances. This situation will require all the resolve you can muster, and dictates that you deal with your affairs in an upright and honest way. This is not the time to try to slide around any challenges - you must face them head on. Nor is it the time to be aggressive; instead, maintain a genuinely strong and steady approach. These moments, if dealt with correctly, can be very character-building, so there is every chance that some good may come of them.
